Impact: Annual Report

Another Year for the Books!

For MCAR, 2018 was full of ups and downs. We spent most of the year operating at or above full capacity, which has been a strain on both staff and animals. But at the same time, our community continues to rally around us and we have made great strides. Some accomplishments in 2018 include:

  • The successful rehabilitation of a large group of dogs from a hoarding case of 40 animals.

  • One of our rescue puppies was approved as the first ever Comfort Dog for the Mitchell County School System.

  • We were awarded Nonprofit of the Year for the 5th consecutive year in a row by the Mitchell County Chamber of Commerce.

  • Former rescue dog Gabe was the third place winner the Wahl Dirty Dogs national contest for the dog that made the most dramatic transformation after being rescued.
