Mitchell County Animal Rescue is dedicated in the fight against animal cruelty and neglect.

The Cruelty Investigator job is no longer an add-on to the shelter director’s job but is now being performed by Mitchell County Sheriff Deputy David LaPlante, who has been responsible for saving and improving many animals’ lives. We are so pleased to have a fantastic working relationship with David and all law enforcement in Mitchell County.

To provide assistance to Deputy LaPlante, we answer calls of concern, investigate reports, and aide in prosecution. If you are reporting suspected animal cruelty or neglect, we will need to know as much information as can be gathered. If possible, the 911 address of the property where the animal is can be very helpful.  Calls will remain anonymous.  To report suspected animal cruelty or neglect  call our office at 828-765-6952. After hours you may call 828-766-7348, or you may email us at info@mitchellcountyanimalrescue.org.  If it is an emergency, you may call Mitchell County Communications at 828-688-9110.
